When we found the plant store, my mother and I bought a little eggplant.                                     When we grew it it at our place she was very impressed with it.                                     I am also busy watering it every day.                                                                                         She made me do more work by planting some more flowers and little pumpkins.   Unfortunately the pots are NOT very spacious also the balcony.

お花屋さんを見つけて、野菜の苗を買った。それが育ったら、おかあさんがとっても感動して、ぼくは水やりの担当になった。毎日水をあげると、さらに育つ。うれしいんだけど今度はかぼちゃの芽まで出てきて、感動してうれしいけど、ぼくの水まきと世話の仕事が増えたよ。ベランダはせまいからね。限度があるのになあ。

Today my mother and I were cycling to get some groceries, suddenly I realized some birds were chirping very sadly. I looked around and found 3 baby house sparrows and a mother on a small bush hiding and avoiding the mean, horrid cars. I feel so sorry for those birds who have to spending there everyday life there. There are very noisy road and cars are always busy. I could not even seen their nest!! Fortunately their feather were growing. Even so this is in Tokyo where surprises me with people occupy much nature for buildings.

I hope they survive and grow healthy for their whole life. The picture is here like this.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

今日自転車で町を通ったら、道路のわきで鳥のひなのさえずる声がきこえた。不思議に思ってとまってみた。すると、道路のわきにある木の、上でもないようなところから声がするし、よくみるとちいちゃいひなが、そこらへんでさえずっている。

まだ羽もはえかかったようなちいちゃいひなたちが３羽も。人々は買い物やとおりをせわしく歩いていくし、車はぶーぶー通っていくような騒がしいところで。

ぼくは本当に気の毒になって、心から、このひなたちがすくすくと元気にそだってほしいと思った。それと、人間が勝手にビルや道路ばかりふやして、自然をこわしていくのは残念とおもった。東京だからって、自然をこわしてばかりでは人間もこまるよね。

I was about to turn on the rice cooker today, as I closed the lid of the cooker and about to push the button cook. I realized something when I turned on the cooker, on the timer it said “one hour.” I remembered back in the NZ I had a different cooker that takes 30 minutes to cook. I even realized that the cooker is very smaller than the one I had before. The pan has 15cm diameters, the tea cups are for about 100ml each. The plates are about 10cm diameters. I even found the bag of flour sold for 100g! I definitely call that microscopic!! There was an eco timer, I set it on. Guess what when I turned on the eco timer it said it will be cooked in 55 minutes! Not much difference from regular cooking for 1 hour. This microscopic rice cooker is a major power waster!!

 

今日ごはんをたくときに、すいはんきをセットする時間を見た。なんと1時間かかる。

まえの古いすいはんきでも30分くらいだったと思う。このちっちゃいすいはんきでもそんなにかかるなんて。フライパンも１５センチの直径、カップは１００MLくらいはいる小さなもの、お皿も直径１０センチくらい。なんといっても、小麦粉が１００ｇで売られているのにはびっくりした。これはもうミニミニサイズの世界と呼んでもいいね。

さて、エコタイマーというものにセットすると時間が短くなるらしい。やってみたら

５５分になった。60分が５５分。5分短いけどそれでも長いよね！！

この小さい炊飯器でもすごく電気をとりそうだ！
